What should I wear?
Shorts, t-shirt, something you don’t mind getting wet. We
recommend bringing a change of clothes. Shoes or sandals
required.
Do I have to paddle a lot?
No, the Watauga River is a generated river, with fast
flowing water.
How much time do you spend on the water?
Watauga Kayak has the longest ride on the river; you will
spend more time on the water enjoying White Water Rafting In

Why do you cost less?
No long drive. We are locally owned and operated. We live
here, and our shop has been located on Watauga River since
1999. We strive to provide a quality ride for a reasonable
price.
Do you have discount rates?
We have special rates for groups, churches, children, and
the young at heart over 70.

Cancellation & Booking Policy
 Watauga Kayak is within easy driving distance of Boone,
Banner Elk, Roan Mountain, Blowing Rock, Mountain City,
Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol, and Asheville.
Our shop is located in Elizabethton, Tennessee, on the banks
of Watauga River, 5.5 miles below Wilbur Dam. The area
offers abundant opportunities for paddlers on rivers and
lakes. We invite you to visit our shop for your rafting and

Reservations & Cancellation Policy
Because many of our trips are booked well in advance we
recommend that you call early to reserve your space.
However, if it’s possible, we will be happy to fit you in on
short notice.
- When making reservations, please have your credit
card ready when you call us.
- We accept MasterCard, and Visa.
- Prepayment or a 50% deposit is required to guarantee
your reservation.
- For a full refund of any deposit, you must cancel 24
hours prior to the trip date.
- Trips booked less than 48 hours in advance require
full payment with a credit card.
- Arrive 30 minutes in advance; late arrivals will be
deferred to next trip time.
- NO REFUND GIVEN FOR CANCELLATIONS THE DAY OF YOUR
TRIP, OR NO SHOWS.
Our Rain Policy
Rain or shine is not our policy. We are very cautious when
it comes to weather, we may hold back the trip for 30+/-
minutes to insure the weather is adequate for rafting.
- We raft when we thing it’s not going to storm.
- A light sprinkle is not a problem, but we prefer no
rain.
- Watauga Kayak DETERMINES IF A TRIP IS TO BE
cancelled due to weather.
- If we cancel you will receive a full refund.
About Prices
Prices are per person and include all equipment you’ll need
to raft, or kayak. No hidden fees.
About Risk
Safety is our main concern. We train our guides extensively
on the Watauga River. However, it is important that you and your
group know that whitewater rafting, like all adventure
activities, involves inherent risks. Watauga Kayak does not
assume liability for personal injuries or death. You will be
asked to participate in our safety instructions and to read
and sign an Assumption of Risk and Waiver Agreement prior to
your trip. |
